Whole30 Approved Beef Broth at Ingles
Finding Whole30 Approved Bone Broth can be a challenge! I gathered together a list of Whole30 Approved Bone Broth Brands AND where to find them to make your Whole30 that much easier. Even though homemade bone broth is SO DANG GOOD, many of us these days don't have the time to make our own! It can be tough to find the bones of the animal of your choice that you trust is high quality!
Luckily, these days you can go to your local store and find exactly what you need from specific companies that are Whole30 Approved and a few that I've done the research for to make sure they're Whole30 compliant.
Tip: Look on the labels and go for the ones that have the LEAST amount of ingredients listed that you can pronounce and don't have to make a funny face when trying to read it 😉
What is the official rule when it comes to Whole30 Approved Bone Broth?
As long as the ingredients in your bone broth are compliant, then that bone broth is Whole30 compliant. To go a bit more in depth about the benefits of bone broth and how to make your own you can check out this Whole30 blog post directly from the Whole30 team!
To get more in depth check out my favorite Whole30 Book called "The Whole30," which keeps the Whole30 lifestyle simple.

What to Look For to find Whole30 Compliant Bone Broth Brands
We're looking for as few ingredients as possible without having added sugars, fillers, MSG or even wheat! Yes, sometimes gluten is added into bone broth (Ugh!).
What to Avoid in Bone Broth
We're trying to avoid all sweeteners (look in the ingredients themselves, NOT the nutrition label), carrageenan, soy lecithin, and sulfites [sulfur dioxide, sodium bisulfate, potassium metabisulfite].
Additives (youmay find in Bone Broths) that are compliant:
Acacia Inulin, Agave Inulin, Calcium Carbonate, Acacia Gum, Gellan Gum, Guar Gum, Locust Bean Gum, Xanthan Gum, Natural Flavors, Niacin, Potassium Chloride, Riboflavin, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Nitrite, Sodium Nitrate, Sunflower Lecithin, Zinc Gluconate.
Whole30 Approved Bone Broth Brands
First, let me explain that Whole30 Approved is a label trademarked by the Whole30. Brands can become officially Whole30 Approved, and use the Whole30 Approved label on their products to help consumers like us know when a product is trusted by the Whole30 team. That doesn't mean others can't fit within their guidelines, but they will not have the Whole30 Approved label. They are still totally Whole30 compliant!

*Note: organic yeast extract is technically compliant, but not encouraged for your Whole30. We would encourage you to find another alternative on this list instead! We're including it here for completeness and if for some reason this is the only bone broth you have access to.
From Melissa Hartwig in the Whole30 Forum on the question "Is Organic Yeast Extract Whole30 Compliant?":
"We say nutritional yeast is okay for the Whole30, and I doubt that yeast extract is going to present a problem for 99.99% of folks doing the program. But for now, as Tom said, we'll encourage you to look for foods and products without these added ingredients, or better yet – just make your own chicken broth. However, I would see no need to start over because you ate some yeast extract in your soup."
Products I know that are NOT Whole30 Approved (not exhaustive):
- Any bone broth with added sweeteners or the below additives
- Orrington Farms (have added sugars)
- Simple Truth Organics (have added sugars)
- Sam's Choice Bone Broths (have added sugars)
Is your bone broth not listed? No problem! Here is a list of unapproved ingredients… If you see one of these ingredients, the bone broth isnot compliant for your Whole30:
- Carrageenan
- Corn Starch
- Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
- Soy Lecithin (Sunflower Lecithinis ok!)
- Sulfites (sulfur dioxide, sodium bisulfite, potassium metabisulfite)
And there's this super handy PDF that the Whole30 program has that tells you all of the approved additives!
Have you found a bone broth that's not on my list? Please share below in the comments and I'll happily add it!
